The firm does not invest in start-ups, and sectors including technology, biotech, weapons, tobacco, and other industries that have negative social and environmental implications. The firm seeks to invest across a broad range of industry sectors including retail, internet and technology, telecommunications, consumer goods, logistics, real estate and shopping malls, health care services, industrial, entertainment and restaurants, education, human resources services, oil and gas, mobile resource management, hotels and utilities. It prefers to invest in companies based in Latin America, with a primary focus on Brazil. It acquires controlling or joint-control stakes in companies with annual revenue of more than $60 million and an average investment ticket between $100 million and $250 million. The firm does not invest more than 20 percent or 35 percent of capital in a single company or sector. The firm exits its investments through trade sales, IPOs, block trades and follow-on offerings. It also makes real estate investments in assets, directly in projects in the residential, office and retail segments.
