She received many awards throughout her career from the Queen’s Medal, Royal Red Cross, King’s Medal and a special decoration awarded by Queen Alexandra. She was responsible for the nursing
of hundreds of thousands of casualties on the first world war and was described by a general as “splendid, wonderful and a soldier” he said “she could run the whole Army and never get flustered.”
