Anspach & Hobday brewery plan to disrupt the dark beer market across the UK with London Black, their new Nitro-Porter. Started in Bermondsey, Anspach & Hobday brewery makes traditional beer modern. Averaging a 43% annual growth rate (2015-2020), we believe now is the time to invest in craft beer.

Anspach & Hobday started in a Bermondsey archway in 2014. We believe beer is about enjoyment & community. In 2019 we crowdfunded (542 investors, £525k raised, £3m valuation) and set up our Croydon Brewing site.

By March 2021, despite the pandemic, revenues grew 31% YoY (£812k, P&L: £16k). As draught beer sales sank through lockdowns, we launched our cans. Selling through bottle shops, online stores, Marks & Spencers and our webshop; can production grew from 0 to 74% of total volume.

Whilst navigating the pandemic we began development of a nitro-porter designed to rival Diageo’s Guinness. Launched in May 2021, London Black is already pouring at 24 pubs and distributed nationally with James Clay & Sons. A&H is already respected for London-style dark beers, namely our award-winning The Porter. London Black is set to build on this reputation.

Impressed with the initial traction & positive feedback, we're going to back this dark horse and plan to:

* Deliver production upgrades to support continued growth
* Double batch volume & efficiency
* Upgrade our canning line with a Nitro-Upgrade, to can London Black
* Support London Black and wholesale growth with marketing

London Black is our local answer to quench the thirst of a UK market that is pursuing local, independent quality over mass-produced quantity.

Paul Anspach - Co-Founder, Head of Production & Director: Directly involved in all aspects of the business with a particular focus on production with Head Brewer, Dan Gambino and the brewing team.

John (Jack) Hobday - Co-Founder & Chairman: Driving strategy in support of Paul and each department with a particular focus on our Sales, Marketing & Retail Teams. Key representative of shareholders interests.

Edd Clibbens - Head of Sales: Edd has taken our sales to a new level this year. Edd keeps us making beers that our customers love.

Joe Hiscocks - Head of Marketing: Joined our company following our 2019 raise. Hailing from a PR background, his talent in marketing has shone in the year he has been with us - whilst growing our social media following, Joe has also co-ordinated our Webshop.

Joe Tanzey - Bar Manager: A bar veteran who heads up The Arch House, Bermondsey. Joe’s previous employment was with Barworks bars & pubs.

Peter Žuffa - Bar Manager: A craft beer enthusiast and experienced Bar Manager who has presided over growth at our Camberwell Bar, The Pigeon.

Jon Askew - Accountant (Contractor): A shareholder, Jon has been with us offering a guiding hand since the beginning.

We have 576 shareholders. Together, they provide a diverse and constructive base of custom, support and advice.

Paul and Jack are the only executives.
